Tax year snapshots
Plain-English reference pages for each UK tax year — rates, allowances, thresholds and what actually changed.
Why a dedicated tax-year section
Tax thresholds and allowances change every April. A calculator gives you a number; a tax-year page tells you why that number is what it is — which band you've crossed, which allowance you've used, and what changed from last year. These pages are updated each April as HMRC publishes the new rates.
Current pages
- UK tax rates 2024/25 — income tax bands, National Insurance, dividend, savings, capital gains.
- ISA allowance 2024/25 — £20,000 limit, Lifetime ISA bonus, cash vs S&S choice.
How we keep these current
Every page here carries a visible "Updated" date and a link to the methodology page listing the HMRC primary sources. If you spot a number that looks stale, email corrections@oddlyuseful.co.uk and we'll fix it within 48 hours.
